Creating a Publication

Now that replication services have been enabled, we are ready to start creating publications and articles. Select Tools | Replication | Create and Manage Publications as shown in Figure 14-18.

This will start the Create and Manage Publications dialog box as shown in Figure 14-19.

You’ll notice that there are only two database displayed in the dialog box: Northwind and pubs. You might be wondering why the pubs_repl database does not show up? The pubs_repl database does not show up because this was created to act as the subscriber and does not contain any user tables. The dialog box will only display those databases that contain at least one user table. You can verify this for yourself by creating a ew database and adding a table. For this chapter, we will be replicating the pubs database to the pubs_repl database.
