You have the option to setup a local or a remote distribution database. If you select a local distributor, a distribution database will be created for you during the setup process. If a remote distributor is selected, replication services must already be installed on the server. For this chapter, we will configure a local distribution database since we will be replicating between two databases on the same server.Clicking the Next button will take you to Figure 14-13.
Distributor and publisher configuration At this point, we will select the default options. The option to customize will enable additional options in the wizard. You can change the name or location of the distribution database at this point. After passing through the distribution database configuration, you can enable publishing on multiple servers. Clicking next allows the enabling of one or more databases for either transactional or merge replication or both. One or more subscribers can be enabled for the publications. After that, the wizard will perform the same options as in the default configuration. Many of the options that are possible from the custom configuration will be configured later in this chapter.
