SQL Probe 7.0.44 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Hi there!

The evaluation you gave of our product is a very fair indication of the capabilities of it. A number of the bugs you reported, as well as a number of others reported by others, have been fixed and will be available in a service pack slated for delivery around mid November. Our next release (slated for around early March) has a number of the features you mentioned would be useful, such as database size history, saving of settings, different summations of statistics graphs and others. We are also adding features such as full web deployment (allowing any number of physically distributed servers to be monitored from anywhere on the planet), Full DTC stats, SQL Server 7.5 support, Executive/Agent job tracking, WIN CE support, NT logging of user selectable problems etc. Our team has been greatly enhanced to cope with the extra load.

Just one or two things you missed on your evaluation:

1. Right clicking on a server on the "Server List" screen allows direct access to the functions without going through the server overview screen.

2. On the "Process Info" screen, the size of an open server-side cursor is shown and the fetch status thereof. Also on the same screen the trace area with show when stored procedures/triggers are being entered/exited by means of indentations, which makes it a lot easier to read/understand.

3. On the "Procedure Cache" screen on a SQL Server 7.x server we allow an in-depth drill down to things such as the actual stored procedure sizes and usage, query plans etc. Most of our clients who buy the product for development purposes find this a pretty useful feature.

4. On the "Alert/settings" screen, one can activate settings to automatically kill blocking processes or processes which consume too much server resources. This allows the DBA to be off-site, knowing that these issues will be taken care of automatically.

Once again, many thanks for the fair treatment you gave us! We hope in March to present a product to you which gets really close to a "10"!

Regards

Brett Hawton
