I have to admit, I was blissfully unaware of this feature for almost 9 months until I started this product review. I have been asking for some type of documentation feature for a long time now. I am glad to finally see it make the feature list. I would have found it much sooner if it would have been called something other than Schema Publication. That name leads me to think replication and I know DBArtisan does not have any support for replication. Something with document in the name would have tipped me off much sooner. Nevertheless now that I have found it, I am making significant use of it. What the schema publication allows you to do is produce documentation of any server or object in your environment. You can only select one datasource at a time. I guess being able to select multiple datasources is a request for a future enhancement.
The figure below shows the output of the schema publication for all objects. This is an easily navigable HTML document that is embedded directly in the DBArtisan interface. This provides all of the high level information right down to the source code for any object documented. You can just as easily take the HTML docs created and publish them to a website.
