All messages returned from all operations can be found in this output window. You can scroll back through the messages and even export them. I would still like to see the ability to redirect the output to a file, because the output window has a size limit and messages tend to roll off the stack and become unreachable. Along the top are several tool bars where you can access the appropriate functionality. You will notice another tool bar located just above the Explorer. This will change context to contain the most frequently accessed operations based upon context.This is just one of the things that will stand out inside DBArtisan. All of the other tools I have seen were written by developers to "get a job done". DBArtisan was written by and designed by DBAs that work with databases day in and day out. There is very little wasted movement within the interface and any operation that needs to be performed is readily exposed via a popup menu or a toolbar. Every other tool that I have picked up forces you to wade through hierarchies of objects, menus, and dialogs to get at the needed functionality. In the center of the figure is the datasource explorer. You will notice that the left side is a traditional tree view that fully customizable. You can add as many groups and subgroups as you want and add servers into the appropriate groups. Moving datasources from one group to another is a simple drag and drop. This hierarchy provides a very simple way to manage the data sources. I am certain you won't find any limitations in the interface as the one I have at home contains over 750 MS SQL Server servers in 25 groups along with almost 200 Sybase servers. The right pane shows the datasources in the currently highlighted folder. You can connect and disconnect to a server via a simple right click on the datasource object. If you look closely, you will notice an improvement over previous versions. I have 2 Explorer windows open. This is a feature I have fought long and hard to get included and it has finally made it. I use this extensively when comparing the contents of two servers and it comes in very handy when verifying migrations.
