DBArtisan 4.01 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 DBArtisan contains a process monitor that is a vast improvement on what Enterprise Manager gives us. Processes are color coded for easy identification of problems. The monitor also allows you to double click on a process to see the SQL statement that was issued. You can view activity based upon all processes, all locks, or by blocking locks. Since you can open multiple instances of the Monitor, you can easily switch back and forth to monitor the activity on multiple servers.
The script generator for Enterprise Manager is implemented adequately. But if you want to extract scripts for an entire server, you have to do this a single database at a time which can quickly become very time consuming. Here the power and flexibility of DBArtisan again shows through. It gives you the ability to not only select the types of objects you want to reverse engineer, but you can also do this for multiple databases at the same time.
One thing that many DBAs have wished for was a utility to allow easy searching for an object or string within a database, server, or enterprise. DBArtisan contains this search utility. It allows you to search a single database, multiple databases or even multiple server for the existence of a particular string. There is no other tool on the market that I know of that provides this capability. While the search facility is limited in that it does not support wild cards, it is still a major improvement.
